Sin Against Brothers

Image
Sin Against Brothers …there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 1 Corinthians 12:25 Being a Christian doesn’t prevent you from sinning—it just gives you the power to resist and overcome it through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 3:23 tells us, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” It doesn’t matter if you attend church faithfully, if you’re a pastor or if you’re the pope—everyone sins and everyone needs the forgiveness of God. Christians in the church at Corinth were cheating and sinning against their brothers and sisters. Church members were taking advantage of other members, even though they were supposed to be demonstrating God’s love to a lost world. Paul rebukes them for these things in 1 Corinthians 6:7-8. There can’t be true fellowship when there is church division. Posted via email from sistersister's posterous

God’s hands

Image
Today is in God’s hands and so are you. His hands are strong and will uphold you; His hands are great and will enfold you; His hands are gentle and will embrace you; His hands are protective and will cover you; His hands are reassuring and will quiet you; His hands are powerful and will defend you; His hands are parental and will train you; His hands are masterful and will conform you; His hands are compassionate and will care for you; His hands are healing and will renew you; His hands are calming and will comfort you; His hands are giving and will bless you. The hands that hold you will never let you down

Bless the LORD, O my soul

Image
"Psalm 103:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. This is the verse I utter when I don’t know what to say. Have you ever had a time when you were so blessed that you were speechless? That’s the time I remember this verse. We are told to hide the Word in our hearts. If we have the Word in our hearts we will not have a dirty joke or curse words jumping out of our mouth. Let’s examine this verse. Our “soul” is to bless the Lord. “All that is within me” is to bless the Lord. This raises the question of what’s within me. The Holy Spirit is in borne again folks, This is the reason lost folks don’t “bless the Lord”. Lost people bless their self, other people, and even the government but not God! Now I challenge you to find out what, “to bless.” means. When you do, then you can “bless the Lord”. Remember, we love you."

real prayer

Prayer, real prayer, requires discipline; it requires making time for moments of silence every day. Often it means waiting for the Lord to speak. Posted via email from sistersister's posterous

JESUS

Image
Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. – 2 Corinthians 12:8-9 (NIV)

When You Need to be Strong

Image
http://www.holleygerth.com/ " target="_blank" style="text-decoration: none;"> When You Need to be Strong I look at the days ahead and wonder what they hold. Don't we all? And then these words make their way to my heart: "Go in the strength you have...am I not sending you?" Judges 6:14 We don't have to... wait to overcome our weaknesses, complete the ten point improvement plan, figure everything out. The strength we already have is all the strength we need. Because we have a limitless God within us who loves us. As is. And He promises to stick by us. All the way.

the last days

Image
So What did Jesus say about a man knowing the final day? “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” (Matthew 24:36-39) Posted via email from sistersister's posterous

GIVE ME A MOMENTS

His Purpose for Me

Image
His Purpose for Me   “The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever — do not abandon the works of your hands .” Psalm 138:8. Thoughts on today’s verse God has a purpose and plan for each of our lives . The greatest thing we can do is to find that purpose and live it out. We can trust his purpose in us because it is based on his wisdom and love. As long as we seek his will, we’re not going to do anything that can ultimately spoil his purpose in us. Yes, we may at times stray from the perfect channel he wants us to travel, but we never get totally out of the main channel. As long he does not abandon us, (and he promised he never would forsake us he will use us) for his purposes. Prayer: O Sovereign God, help me discern today what my life is intended to fulfill. Thank you for loving me and promising to walk beside me every step of my life. I live trusting that you will never forsake me. Through Jesus I pray. Amen.

Lord Teach us to Pray

Image
Lord Teach us to Pray   “ Lord, Teach Us to Pray .” Luke 11: 1 Leonard Sweet recently wrote on Twitter : “ When my mother died, I set her Bible on a table and let it open itself. Psalm 91 , to my surprise. Where does your Bible open itself ?” I decided to take the fun challenge and let my Bible open by itself. It’s a small Bible because I like to carry it in my purse, so honestly it kept falling over. Finally it opened to Luke 11 . Jesus’ teaching on prayer. I read it with fresh eyes. I was struck by verse 8 : “ I tell you, though he will not get up and give him the bread because he is his friend, yet because of the man’s boldness he will get up and give him as much as he needs .” Jesus prescribes boldness in our asking. How do I approach God – Am I asking for the world? Am I stepping out in faith, asking for the miraculous? Once I have aligned my heart with God’s purposes, God wants to work through His children as we pray . God wants us to

God Said Don't Worry

Image
God Said Don't Worry..So I Won't GOD has kept me here (in this position) for a reason:   I survived because HE has an awesome plan for me.   All my bad supervisors , (he has moved) the bad management choices (he's currently working on) don't give up!   The death of loved ones , the back stabbing from my co-workers (NO weapon formed against me , shall prosper - I'm NOT even worried).   The negative thoughts or the lack of executive support; I made it and continue to make it because I AM BLESSED! They can't hurt me! I release and let go of all past hurts , misunderstanding and grudges because I am blessed! I recognize them as the distractions they are , for GOD is all there is. All else is a lie! Now give yourself a hug , wipe your tears and walk in victory! .   GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU AFTER YOU TURN TO HIM! HAVE A BLESSED DAY.   'No Weapon formed against me shall prosper.' See the full galler

Lord, we are in troubling times

Image
Lord, we are in troubling times with our Spouse, Children, Family, Friends, Job, Health, Unemployment, Life Styles, and World Affairs. We are in need of your help. We need Peace and Love in the World! Lord, as I live out this day, keep me away from situations that might cause me to wind up sinning, even though there may be nothing wrong with the situations themselves. Lord, please watch out for me today! Amen. Posted via email from sistersister's posterous

Some Things Never Change

Image
Some Things Never Change   “I am the Lord. I do not change .” Malachi 3:6 We live in a world of moral relativism, situational ethics and designer personal morality . Or put another way, the difference between right and wrong is not absolute, but depends on the circumstances. And, increasingly more people believe that each person has a right to decide and design his or her personal morality and standards of right and wrong. Many people today, and not just the younger generation, seem to have abandoned absolute truth , option for their freedom to choose what works best for them and then call that morally right or wrong. They say that like shoes, one size does not fit all.

how to be vigilant

Image
How to be Vigilant   by Gail Rodgers In the noise and commotion of life it’s easy to miss the still small voice within us. It is easy for our awareness of God to diminish in our busy schedules. It’s easy to lose our observant eye and ear as we rush from one thing to the next! It is wise to stop and ask, “ Am I growing or eroding in who I am becoming “? A wise woman grows in becoming vigilant. A vigilant woman is watchful and alert. She is observant – with an eye to the future and is on guard for danger or pitfalls. A vigilant woman pays attention to the little things in her life and in her relationships. She is careful with her money knowing that the little things can add up to be big things. She is alert to the subtle slip in important relationships. She takes the time to mend the small tears in the relationships around her, knowing this will make them stronger in the future. A vigilant woman is wise in tending her marriage . Wherever she can she seeks to sow seeds
