We have heard it with our ears,

We have heard it with our ears, O God; our ancestors have told us what you did in their days, in days long ago. – Psalm 44:1 (NIV)

When you read the rest of this psalm you find that the Israelites are being overrun by their enemies. The Psalmist is basically saying, “You delivered our forefathers when they were in danger, we are asking you to do this for us today.” This is the power of understanding how God has interacted with His people: He has revealed Himself as the same yesterday, today, and forever! This means that for those who are willing to dig into the Scriptures, they can call upon the Lord of the universe to be consistent with His actions of the past. We have that same privilege today. Learn what God has done in order to call upon Him today.

“ When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy…. And they fell down and worshiped him .” Matthew 2:10-11 Worship was such an important part of that first Christmas . The wise-men worshiped Jesus in the house where they found him. The prophetess Anna and Simeon worshiped in the temple. The shepherds’ hearts were filled with praise as they hurried to find the child and then shared the good news with others. The place of worship was different for all of them but their hearts were overflowing with praise and adoration. Do we take the time to worship the Lord during this Christmas season ? It doesn’t really matter whether we worship in our home, in our church, at a Christmas concert or banquet or maybe it’s, ‘ on the run ,’ as we dash through the mail and hear the music, “ Silent Night ”. Joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5 Sing the praises of the LORD, you his faithful people; praise his holy name. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. When I felt secure, I said, "I will never be shaken." LORD, when you favored me, you made my royal mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed. To you, LORD, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy: "What is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness?
